Ethical and Responsible Use of AI for University Students
AI in Academia, Innovation and Business
The EmpowerAI Micro-Credential Curriculum has been developed to strengthen university students’ knowledge, skills and competences for the ethical, critical, transparent and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in academic, innovation, business and professional contexts.
Designed as a transdisciplinary 10-academic-hour learning pathway, the programme is suitable for Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral students from both STEM and non-STEM fields. No prior specialised knowledge of AI, programming or data science is required.
The curriculum combines guided instruction, practical interaction with the EmpowerAI chatbot, independent case-based learning, assessment and reflection. Through realistic academic and professional scenarios, students learn to critically evaluate AI-generated content, recognise ethical and academic risks, protect privacy and academic integrity, and understand the importance of human judgement and accountability.
The programme is organised around three core modules:
Module 1 – Foundations of AI and Ethics
Module 2 – AI in Academia
Module 3 – AI in Business across Industries
These modules are complemented by a guided practical activity using the EmpowerAI chatbot, an independent case-based assignment, and final assessment and reflection.
Upon successful completion, learners receive a Certificate of Completion and an EmpowerAI digital badge, certifying completion of the 10-academic-hour transdisciplinary micro-credential.
