EmpowerAI Project Releases Draft of Ethical AI Guidelines for Academia

The EmpowerAI Erasmus+ project has released a draft version of its flagship document: Ethical Guidelines for the Use of AI in Academia. It addresses critical issues surrounding the responsible integration of generative AI in higher education, including academic integrity, transparency, data privacy, and institutional governance. The Guidelines are based on insights from in-depth focus groups with academic staff, a review of over 260 institutional and national policy documents, and extensive analysis of current practices across Europe.

Currently, the project team is organizing stakeholder roundtables to gather feedback and validate the Guidelines' practical applicability across various academic contexts.

The final version will be available in August–September 2025.
The EmpowerAI team encourages you to follow the EmpowerAI LinkedIn page and the official project website to receive updates and access the final version upon release.
